Nokia E55 Review – Nokia’s New E-Series Business Phone

The Nokia E55 is the hottest offering from Nokia, the world’s largest mobile manufacturer.

Hardware

The E55from the manufacturers E-Series range has dimensions of 116mmX 49mm X 9.9mm and is an ultra slim phone. Weighing only 98 grams the phone is as light as a feather. The phone comes in black or white aluminium casing. The phone’s front is dominated by a TFT screen spanning a width of 2.4 inches and a novel hybrid keypad integrating the QWERTY and numeric keypads.

Two letters share the same key in this space saving keypad. The screen displays vivid, crisp images with its high resolution of 240X320 pixels. The screen has auto rotate attribute and can be viewed in landscape and portrait mode. The Nokia E55 provides one click access to most applications.

Software

The Nokia E55 uses the Symbian operating system as its brain. This OS is conflated with the typical Nokia interface called S60. The home screen modes of the interface are highly customizable and the phone has a noise cancellation attribute.

Mobile Internet

The E55 Nokia phone has an impressive mobile internet capability making it apt for corporate users. The email user interface has been upgraded to perform like a PC’s email UI. The Nokia E- 55’s email UI has a folder and html email support, enlargeable views, ability to sort email by date, size and sender and common email functions.

The Nokia E55 has a whopping 10.2mbps HSDPA, WLAN, Wi Fi technology, HSCSD and EDGE technology for giving you the benefit of high speed internet. The phone works on a quad band network supporting a variety of GSMs to allow business users to use the phone when traveling overseas.

Entertainment Options

The E55 also provides a swarm of recreation attributes. It has a media player for listening to music. The player supports MP3 and AAC music file formats. The player has album art, music sort, equalizers and audio enhancement attributes. The great internet connectivity comes in handy to download tracks from the Nokia Music Store.

The FM radio with RDS facility is another entertainment venue of the phone. Bluetooth connectivity boosts the listening experience afforded by the phone. The 3.5mm audio jack allows connection of headphones to the Nokia E-55.

The phone has a secondary video call camera. It also has video recording capabilities. The video footage can be viewed and streamed on the media player. The main 3.2 Mega pixel camera is endowed with auto focus feature and VGA resolution for high quality pictures. The Nokia E55’s gaming applications are supported by a new Ngage technology.

The phone has GPS facility for working its Nokia Maps application. Navigation is made easier by a digital compass. The phone’s 60MB memory can be enhanced by 16GB with a Micro SD memory card. The phone boasts of 672 hours standby time and 8 hours of talk time. It has functional USB ports. It has superior calendar, contacts and task management abilities and supports audio/video ring tones.
