LATEST June 7, 11:25 a.m. The California Highway Patrol released a detailed report on a fatal crash that killed a motorcyclist Tuesday morning.

The crash occurred at 3:28 a.m. when a Nissan sedan came to a complete stop on the 101 southbound connector ramp to I-80 eastbound, CHP said in a statement posted on Facebook.

Approaching the disabled car, the motorcyclist lost control in an attempt to avoid a crash. He hit the wall of the ramp and was ejected over the wall, falling onto a Honda sedan that was traveling on I-80 westbound to the 101 southbound connector ramp, CHP said.

The driver of the Honda slowed to a stop and the motorcyclist fell onto the roadway, CHP said. The driver of a Subaru Forester was unable to safely slow down before colliding with the rear of the Honda.

The motorcyclist died on the scene after being struck by one or more vehicles.

The drivers of the Honda and Subaru were both arrested and booked on suspicion of driving under the influence, CHP said.

Anyone who witnessed the accident can call, CHP Officer Israel Garcia at (415) 557-1094.

June 7, 9:35 a.m. All ramps and lanes were reopened as of 9:30 a.m. Traffic remained slow from the East Bay into San Francisco across the Bay Bridge.

June 7, 7:05 a.m. A fatal motorcycle crash in San Francisco early Tuesday impacted traffic on the connector ramps to and from the Bay Bridge, creating a traffic nightmare officials said.

The ramps from southbound 101 to eastbound 80 and from westbound 80 on to southbound 101 remain closed as of 7:30 a.m.

“Lanes are blocked,” officials said. “Expect delays and use alternate routes.”

KCBS Radio described the commute as “brutal” as traffic from Oakland into San Francisco was backed up across the Bay Bridge.

The crash occurred at 3:28 a.m. when a man was thrown from his motorcycle on the Central Freeway southbound 101 to eastbound 80 and landed on top of a moving vehicle westbound 80 to southbound 101, the California Highway Patrol said.

“We’re unsure if it was a solo vehicle collision or if there was another car involved,” CHP spokesperson Mark Andrews said.

The motorcyclist sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, Andrew said.
