PULASKI COUNTY – A gentleman was arrested by Pulaski County deputies just after he attempted to strike cars and trucks with a shovel and wounded a deputy on Wednesday.

Deputies responded to Y Highway in Pulaski County about 2:20 p.m. after drivers noted that a male was in close proximity to Getaway Lane with a shovel. 1 by-passer claimed the person struck their automobile with the shovel.

The gentleman was determined Thursday afternoon as Michael T. Payton. He was billed with 1st-degree assault on a special target and resisting arrest.

Deputies arrived and gave multiple verbal instructions to Payton, who disregarded the deputies and continued walking “aggressively” towards them. He was carrying a shovel, a pickaxe and a hammer, in accordance to a information release.
